To succeed in this, we must remember to watch the key unremittingly, both before depression—for its weight, and during depression—for the Place where tone-production culminates and ceases. We can moreover only ensure our doing this, by remembering to watch TIME.
We must therefore insist on judging not only how, but where each note should sound. Thus, only, can we hope to learn to employ Technique solely for a Musical Purpose.
